Yesterday evening, the JV softball team hosted Louisville in a non-conference matchup. The Spartans reached the scoreboard first with a one-out sac fly to right by Maddie Dravecky to score Cami Goske. Boardman pitcher Natalie Davis was perfect through the first two innings and didn’t allow a run until the third. This tied up the game at 1-1 and would be Louisville’s lone run of the evening. The Spartans’ offense finally woke up in a 9-run fourth fueled by hits from Brooke Yoder, Sophia Rivera, Natalie Davis, Gabby Goddard and Olivia LaCivita. Every batter got on base in Boardman’s breakout inning. Davis shutout the side in the top of the fifth to keep the Spartans one run away from securing the win by mercy rule. A single and stolen base by Dravecky gave Boardman the winning run in scoring position. A rip up the middle by Davis gave the Spartans their third mercy rule walk-off of the season. Davis was also strong from the circle, allowing only 2 hits, no walks and striking out 8. The Spartan’s record remains perfect at 6-0. Today, Boardman goes on the road to Massillon Perry.
