Warren: Boardman Spartan junior Mitchel Dunham advanced to the OHSAA Regional Championship for the third consecutive season after placing 11th overall in career-best time of 16:05 this past Saturday at the OHSAA District Championship in Warren. That time moves Dunham to 11th All-Time in Boardman High School history.
The Spartans finished 10th overall as a team. Scoring for the Spartans was sophomore Frank Bero in 21st place at 16:45, sophomore Caydin Newberry in a career-best time of 17:43 for 55th, sophomore Anthony Marshall in a personal-best time of 17:44 in 56th, and sophomore Beau Gorby in 68th place in a career best time of 17:58.
“Very happy for Mitchel and very proud of our team,” said Boardman Head Coach John Phillips, “this district is the toughest in Ohio and our guys did their very best today, they should hold their heads up high. We return our entire top 7 and 10 of our top 12 so the future is very bright.”
Dunham will run at 12:30pm this Saturday at home, he will need to finish in the top 28 in order to advance to the state championship on November 3rd.
