Boardman went on the road and earned a victory in the first conference game of the season. After a back and forth first half, the Spartans played some of their best basketball of the season in the 3rd quarter and early 4th, to gain a 13 point lead before holding on to finish the game. Seth Cervello provided a big offensive spark in the second half, scoring a team high 11 points to go along with 5 rebounds and great energy and effort defensively. Despite getting double and triple teamed Ethan Andersen put in 10 points and grabbed 8 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks and 2 steals. D.J. Evans had a very strong all around game with 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Trey DePietro showed his versatility with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocks. Anthony Hightower had a strong game with 6 points while playing valuable minutes. Ben Alvarico was strong early offensively with 5 points, while giving a strong defensive effort throughout the game. Luke Ryan rounded out the scoring with 3 points. Spencer Smith and Ty Ventresco both had valuable contributions in the winning effort.
Boardman improves to 6-2 (1-0) on the season. The Spartans host conference rival Austintown Fitch on Friday in the WKBN Game of the Week.
