The Boardman Freshman boys season came to an end on Monday after a hard fought loss to Warren Harding, 42-40. The Spartans started the game off strong on the defensive end, holding Warren to just 4 points in the first quarter and 8 in the second. The defense, paired with execution on offense, helped the freshman to a 7 point half time advantage. Harding came out in the second half and began to force the Spartans into tough offensive possessions, leading to costly turnovers. As the game wore on, Warren’s size and length allowed them to grab the lead late in the fourth. Harding was able to seal the game on the free throw line, despite a furious rally to close the game by the Spartans. Leading the way for Boardman was Rami Mousa with 11 points. Ty Ventresco and Marco Stilliana each chipped in with 9 points. Rounding out the scoring was Nick Ott with 5, Aidan Slocum with 3, Anthony Micco with 2, and Dawaylon Pritchard with 1 point. The Freshman finished up a great season with a record of 12 wins and 6 losses.
