The Boardman Varsity Girls Bowling Team won the G-Men Classic Tournament in Garrettsville, Ohio on Sunday, January 10th. The Lady Spartans led the tournament from start to finish, rolling impressive individual game sets in the qualifying round of 926, 964, and 891 and baker games of 191, 188, 209, 150, and 167. Heading into the best of three baker series matchups, one seed Boardman took on four seed Champion in the opening round of play, losing the first game 154-149. The Spartans bounced back from that loss, winning the next two 188-132 and 204-172. Boardman then advanced to the championship series to face off against two seed Mentor, beating them 217-155 and 184-133 to take the title. This is Boardman’s third tournament win on the year.
The leading scorers for the Spartans were Sam Hoffman and Fatima Rehman, shooting identical sets of 564, placing them in a tie for 4th place and landing them on the all tournament team. Followed closely behind them were teammates Lexus Petrich with games of 196, 216, and 149 for a 561 set, Josalyn Hibbard with games of 160, 230, and 165 for a 555 set, and Alayna Turillo with games of 184, 180, and 173 for a 537 set.
