Sophomore Micah Beckwith earned First Team All-Ohio honors at the OHSAA State Track and Field Meet for the second year in a row. He qualified in the shot put and all three seated track events, the 100, 800, and 400. His first event was the shot put and Micah placed 9th with a toss of 11’6 1/2”. He came back in the 800 for his next event and finished in 9th place again, just missing the podium and All-Ohio honors. His time in the 800 was a career best time of 2:39.38. Three hours later Micah competed in the 400 event and had a time of 1:15.16 to finish in 8th place and earn his first All-Ohio honors for the day. That time was also a personal best for him. In his final event of the day some two hours later, he earned his second All-Ohio honor by placing 8th in the 100 meter event with a time of 21.28.
Micah is pictured above with John Phillips, Head Coach of the boys team and Micah’s event coach and his mother. There was a capacity crowd on hand to see the Division I finals as evidenced with the size of the crowd in the background. Spartan Nation is proud of Micah’s accomplishments in track and field the past two years. Last year as a freshman, he earned All-Ohio honors in 3 events.
