The Cleveland Cavaliers Basketball Academy held a 3 hour youth camp at Boardman High School today with 75 boys and girls in attendance from 5-17 years of age. The Academy Camp is run by Kendall Chones, a former Orange High School basketball player who earned a scholarship to play at Colgate University. He then went on to play internationally for 8 years. His father is Jim Chones who played for the Cavaliers back in the late 70’s and who was in attendance at today’s camp.
The clinic also featured Boardman Alum & former Ohio State Legend, Terence Dials. Terence was recently inducted into the Boardman Booster Club and Ohio State Hall of Fame. He was named the Big Ten Player of the Year in his senior year as a Buckeye and played overseas for 9 years with international professional teams. Other area high school and collegiate coaches from the area were also on the coaching staff for the camp.
Each camper received a Cavs Academy reversible jersey, an NBA basketball to keep and a game ticket to a 2019-20 Cavs home game. The cost of the camp was $75.00.
Thank you to all the area youth and parents who attended today’s camp. It was the first time the Cavaliers have chosen Boardman High School as a site for this camp. We hope they come back again next year as it was an excellent learning experience for all who attended. Go Cavaliers!
